ELECTRICAL PANEL UPGRADE

The Electrical Panel of the home serves to provide connectivity to the electric grid and distributes energy to different circuits of the home. It also protects against short circuits and overloading. Your solar system connects to your electrical panel in order to provide energy to your home and export electricity back to the grid. The 120 rule states that the current loads being used in your electrical panel plus the back feed amperage from your solar system inverter can not exceed more then 120% of the electrical panel bus bar max amperage. If so, you may need an electrical panel upgrade. Although this is an additional cost, the value will exceed that cost. Example would be if your energy needs grow in the future, which is more likely then not, your electrical panel may be able to handle certain upgrades such as Electrical vehicle charging station, batteries, or even increasing system size.
